It started with a chair exhibit…

Natasha and Ben met at a chair exhibit at the MoMA in 2012. Over the next 15 years, they excelled in their respective design fields, collaborating on side projects along the way. Ben in architecture and engineering. Natasha in graphic design, surface patterns, and illustration.

Their complementary design skills came together in 2019 to create the interiors for Golden Diner in Manhattan’s Chinatown. A collaboration that was successful enough to spur future projects with the same owner set to open in Fall 2024.

Studio Gems is uniquely suited to execute any vision at any budget. Their ability to design both volumetrically and on surfaces, combined with a keen sense of proportions, colors, and materials, allows them to drive concepts from layout to massing, furniture and decor, down to the tiniest details—whether simple or highly designed. They can source anything from off-the-shelf, to custom furniture and wallpaper, to repurposed vintage furniture and decor. Their holistic approach ensures that every project is tailored to meet specific needs and aesthetic desires.
